Can you start PLT before graduating?

An early start in PLT may be available where the academic conditions are met and the admitting authority gives prior written approval.

Get written approval before starting

Do not rely on having only a few subjects left. Confirm that your remaining subjects are eligible, you are enrolled in them and the authority has approved early commencement.

Check all four conditions

  1. 01

    No more than two subjects remain

    The standard exception is limited to a small amount of unfinished academic study.

  2. 02

    Neither covers a prescribed admission area

    Remaining subjects must not be among the prescribed academic requirements.

  3. 03

    You remain enrolled in them

    You must be enrolled in those subjects while undertaking PLT.

  4. 04

    Written permission comes first

    Obtain the relevant admitting authority’s approval before commencing PLT.

Prepare your evidence

  • Current academic transcript
  • Details of each remaining subject
  • Evidence of concurrent enrolment
  • Expected academic completion dates
  • Proposed PLT commencement date

Set your start after the decision

Use the process required by your admitting authority and meet any conditions in the decision. IOLT enrolment does not replace authority approval.

Once approved and enrolled, online coursework can fit around your remaining study and employment. Choose a realistic load rather than relying on flexibility alone.

Permission to start and permission to be admitted

Written early-commencement approval allows you to begin PLT under the conditions imposed by the authority. It does not treat unfinished academic subjects as completed or determine your final admission application.

Continue the approved concurrent academic study and keep the written permission with your enrolment records. Ask Admissions about the documents needed for your proposed start.
